Upcoming Movies

The new year of 2015 has already gotten off to a great start when talking about movies. From January 2, 2015 up until January 16, 2014, five movies have already been released and received great reviews. While many people went to the box office on those opening days, what most people want to know is what other movies are coming out this year. 2015 is going to be filled with action, romance, horror, comedy and family friendly movies, as well as some long awaited sequels to favorite movies from the past few years. This post will highlight some crowd favorites as well as some of my own favorites that are going to premier this year.

January started off strong with The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, Taken 3, Blackhat, Paddington, American Sniper, Still Alice, Vice Spare Parts, and The Wedding Ringer. But it does not end there. Tomorrow, January 23, Mordecai, Strange Magic and The Boy Next Door, Black Sea, Against the Sun, Red Army and Son of a Gun will hit theaters across America. If you have not heard about these movies, Mordecai is a comedy adopted from the book anthology Mortdecai written by Kyril Bonfiglioli and stars Johnny Depp as well as Gweneth Palrow and Ewan McGrwgor. Strange Magic is an animated movie written and produced by George Lucas who directed and wrote many of the popular Star Wars films. The Boy Next Door is a thriller starring Jennifer Lopez as a teacher who has a one night stand with a student who unfortunately develops an obsession with her. In the end of January, Project Almanac, The Loft, Black or White, Alien Outpost, Coming Home, and Timbuktu will premier.

The rest of the year will feature over 148 original movies with many more still in development.
Here are some of the most anticipated movies.

February 2015: Fifty Shades of Grey, The DUFF, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, and The Vatican Tapes

March 2015: Cinderella, and The Divergent Series: Insurgent

April 2015: Furious 7, Unfriended, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2

May 2015: The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Pitch Perfect 2

June 2015: Insidious: Chapter 3, Jurassic World, and Ted 2

July 2015: Terminator: Genisys, Magic Mike XXL, and Minions

August 2015: The Fantastic Four, and Goosebumps

September 2015: Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Hotel Transylvania 2, and The Intern

October 2015: Frankenstein

November 2015: Friday the 13th Sequel, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2

December 2015: Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Mission Impossible V

The one movie I am most excited to see is the sequel to Divergent, The Divergent Series: Insurgent. After reading the four books in the series I fell in love and even though the first movie was not exactly like the first book, and I expect the second movie to stray even farther from the book, I love seeing a book come to life.
